At the beginning of this year, the fastener industry in the city was in a relatively stable growth. According to statistics from Wenzhou Customs, the volume of exports from January to July 2014 was 7167.7 tons, an increase of 15.48% year-on-year. The export value was 15.251 million U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 12.88%. The main growth point was the export trade of Brazil, Russia, Uzbekistan, and other countries. Compared with the average unit price of export products of US$2085/ton in 2013, the average unit price in the first half of 2014 rose to US$2128/ton, which was higher than the average unit price of US$2085 in the same period of last year at US$43.

Wu Jinyu, chairman of the Shanghai Fastener Association, said that although last year, the average unit price of fastener exports in Wenzhou was 200 US dollars higher than the national average price, but compared with Taiwan’s price of 2,500 US dollars per tonne, there was also a difference of 485 US dollars. Compared with imports of US$10,985 per ton, it is a difference of 5.3 times. Enterprises need to accelerate the pace of transformation and upgrading, should be from "big and full" to "fine, special, special" direction, from the general trade to the terminal supporting services.
