SAIC will push 20,000 new energy vehicles in 2012

On the afternoon of September 16, at the plenary session of the Global Automotive Forum on the topic of “thinking about the green future”, Xiao Guopu, vice president of Shanghai Automotive Industry (Group), explained the development path of SAIC New Energy Vehicles. He said that by 2012, SAIC will introduce 20,000 pure electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles to the market.

"Now we must establish a new energy vehicle industrialization base to prepare for the future development." Xiao Guopu said that SAIC Group aims at the trend of electric vehicles, accelerate the industrialization of hybrid and electric vehicles, and actively promote the development of fuel cell batteries Upgrade and demonstration run.

With the opportunity of the World Expo, SAIC Group has made clear the development goals of new energy vehicles: In 2010, SAIC's medium-power hybrid cars were put into operation; in 2012, SAIC Roewe 550 plug-in strong-mix cars were listed and its own brand pure electric vehicles were introduced to the market. From 2010 to 2012, SAIC will build 20,000 pure electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles.

Among the 1,100 new energy vehicles provided by SAIC to the Shanghai World Expo, there are various types of electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles, fuel cells, and super capacitor cars. Xiao Guopu said that the new energy vehicles provided by the SAIC Group have performed very well at this year's World Expo. Until now, the total attendance rate of all models has reached 97%, and the good rate has reached more than 99%, even exceeding the running quality of traditional buses.
