It is reported that a new type of waste heat recovery system jointly developed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Calnetix Technology Co., Ltd. has been installed on Maersk Line "Arnold Maersk" container ship.
According to reports, this system called Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) can generate electricity from low-temperature heat sources, including cooling water of the main cylinder liner of about 85 degrees Celsius.
It is understood that the system version installed by Maersk Line has an output of 125 kW, which can reduce the load and CO2 emissions of the main generator set on the ship.
According to the news, the system was tested at the Calnetix plant in 2015 and was approved by the Japan Classification Society and Lloyd's Register.
