As the quality of seal disc in the sealing devices will influence the sealing performance and the service life-time directly, and the physical properties of seal disc will be decided by the composition and microstructures of the raw material, so choosing an ideal raw material is a critical thing for making the seal disc.
With the development of technology, technical ceramics have to be thought as a desired material for seal disc due to their exceptional wear resistance, self-lubrication, chemical stability, high-temperature resistance features. In common case, the ceramic seal disc are commonly made from alumina ceramic, zirconia ceramic and silicon carbide, they are regularly formed by dry pressed, hot pressed and isostatic pressed with very dense ceramic body. In order to enhance the sealing performance, the polishing finish at working surface and double-side grinding will be carried after sintering, afterwards, the mirror surface will be formed which will reduce the friction under working.
