Europe and the United States intend to improve LED lighting standards

At the same time that the domestic LED industry is facing various difficulties, news from major export destinations such as the European Union and the United States plans to raise the standards for imported products.
According to the Guangdong Provincial WTO/TBT Notification and Research Center (hereinafter referred to as the TBT Research Center), LED export enterprises in Guangdong will increase production costs by about 4 billion yuan. It is reported that the EU has put forward high energy efficiency requirements for directional lamps and LED lamps. Only directional LED lamps and directional fluorescent lamps with an energy efficiency index of more than 0.2 can enter the EU market, which is 2.5 times higher than the previous energy efficiency requirements.
In the United States, the United States has put forward higher requirements for the conformity assessment and market surveillance inspection procedures for imported directional lamps and LED lighting products, and the company's testing costs will increase.
According to the TBT Research Center, there are more than 3,000 LED companies in Guangdong Province, and most of them are exported to Europe and the United States. We estimate that the increase in the above standards will increase the cost of the LED industry in Guangdong Province by 2 billion yuan. The staff of the above TBT Research Center said.
It is understood that Guangdong Province has expressed its opinion to the European Union and the United States that it hopes to further postpone the implementation of the standard. However, it has not yet received a reply. Some analysts pointed out that the high technical and safety standards required by Europe and the United States are hidden technical barriers to trade.
